Renter Spotlight: The Ballet Club

On a normal day, Gibney’s 23 studios are a bustling artistic nexus. We love walking down the hallway and seeing different artists, different projects, and different communities making each space their own. We are missing that feeling, and want to find a way to share it with you.

We’ve asked a group of renters whose rehearsals, showings, workshops, and events have been postponed or suspended to give us a glimpse of what they’re working on, share the ways we can support them right now, and tell us what the first thing they’ll do is once they’re back in the studio.

The first thing we’ll do? Close our eyes, feel the floor supporting us, and take a deep breath of gratitude.

“We are a very student-focused organization and look forward to seeing all of their smiling faces in person again!”

Who are you?
A unique ballet program in New York City, The Ballet Club offers students a foundation of life skills; physical health, intellectual stimulation, confidence, discipline, and fun! In addition to our regularly scheduled classes and our annual show for which we were preparing, we had been working on presenting a master class for our students. We often provide our students with additional education opportunities, and events like this are great resources for our students to learn from industry professionals. New York City Ballet Principal Dancer Daniel Ulbricht was to teach the master class, and we very much look forward to working with him at a future date. The attached photo is of Daniel and his master class event we were going to produce.

How can we support you right now?
We are currently teaching online classes via zoom with our students. Sign up for classes or visit our website/social media:

What are you most looking forward to about being back in the studio?
The thing that we are looking most forward to is reconnecting with our students.

What is the first thing you will do when you are back in the studio?
Although technology provides us with ways to teach remotely, we are a very student-focused organization and look forward to seeing all of their smiling faces in person again!
