This workshop is an introduction to the principles and tactics for centering disability in accessibility for the arts. It will begin with ways of conceptualizing disability access and then consider how to begin immediately, including orientations toward audio description, real-time captioning, ASL interpretation, web accessibility, publicity and event design, and more. The workshop will stress the ways that accessibility must be understood beyond regulatory and compliance-based models, considering the ways that disability artistry is modeling forms of interrogation that can lead to immediate and long-term transformations.
