How has colonization manifest in dance training, making, presenting, critiquing, documenting and theorizing? Who are the colonizers and the colonized? What initiatives could be launched to decolonize these sites of power imbalance? In partnership with Dance/NYC, this Long Table will take up questions first raised at the Dance/NYC Symposium, and will further the conversation with the wealth of knowledge in the room. Core participants include Alexis Convento, Johnnie Cruise Mercer, Alicia Ohs, and Jerron Herman. We welcome participants who attended the Symposium long table and those who were not able to attend to listen and/or share your experiences and ideas.

About Center Line
Curated and facilitated by dance writer and independent curator Eva Yaa Asantewaa, Center Line is a conversation series highlighting issues in the dance community. Events adopt performance artist Lois Weaver’s non-hierarchical Long Table format to encourage “informal conversation on serious topics.” All events are free and open to the public.
