CAMPAIGN: Keep the Wonderful World of Gibney Turning

The Wonderful World Of Gibney - Purple graphic with photo of dancer.

In the midst of the profound uncertainty of the current moment and with heavy hearts, we made the decision in mid-March to begin temporarily suspending Gibney’s operations out of concern for our staff, dancers, partners, and friends. 15 boxes of Gibney’s 2020 Gala invitations then arrived on our doorstep. As evidence of our persistent optimism, these boxes reminded us once again that flexibility is at the core of how we respond in an ever-changing environment.

So, we have chosen to do what artists do best: take a chance, innovate, move, respond, and lead. After many thoughtful discussions with colleagues in the field, our internal teams, and our Board of Directors, we have decided to cancel our upcoming May 7, 2020 Gala out of respect for everyone’s health and safety.

Instead, we are reinventing it as a digitally driven fundraising campaign—Keep the Wonderful World of Gibney Turning—and we hope you will join us. Your generosity has unprecedented value and urgency at this time.

PARTICIPATE NOW

We ask that you consider preserving your commitment to Gibney in the form a contribution so that New York City culture can thrive for years to come—and most urgently, in the unpredictable year ahead. Stay tuned for digital content that brings our art and artists to you, creates opportunities to participate in an online auction, and lends deeper insight into the impact every dollar has for the artists who rely on us.

A heartfelt thanks to Gibney’s Sponsors, Host Committee members, and Honorary Committee members for their partnership:
