MARK CASERTA
BIG KID

TICKETS: $15 IN ADVANCE, $20 AT THE DOOR

big kid pays homage to my childhood, friends and family in Philly. The work reflects on the relationship I had with my father and most straight, male figures in my life, and the fear that defined me as a child lingering into adulthood. It is a healing for myself and for anyone who feels they maybe grew up too fast and had to become independent sooner than later. It is also inspired by the kids I know and teach now, and the strength and kindness in them I still struggle with as an adult.

Mark Caserta trained at the UArts School of Dance (BFA Dance/Ballet Performance) & the Ailey School. Mark danced for Complexions Contemporary Ballet, Les Ballets Jazz de Montreal and Camille A. Brown & Dancers. He set work on Dark Circles Contemporary Dance, Arts School of Dance, Springboard Danse Montreal as Emerging Choreographer, Pace University, Agora Dance & Grace Dance Theater.  Mark presented work at Gibney, The Banff Center, Wanderlust Dance Festival, Steps on Broadway & the Brooklyn Dance Festival. Mark currently co-directs a dance film collective DRIGGproductions, the Pre Professional company at Dance Industry Performing Arts Center & a non profit The thriving Artist Project.

Join us for Living Gallery, a free and live performance in Gibney’s Gallery with Oceana James on Feb. 15th at 7:00 pm prior to the performance.

POP: PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITY PROJECT

POP provides the dance community with increased support for showings and performances.

POP enables dance artists to self-produce performances and showings at Gibney through a curated rental process. Artists can participate in POP through Performances, Showings, or Open Rehearsals. POP Performances offer a three-night run in The Theater (Studio H) at 280 Broadway. POP Showings & Open Rehearsals are more informal showings in our studios.
