Fuck / Love: The Poetics of Adoration is an exploration of the emotional disconnect between physicality and language. How do we communicate when words aren’t enough? How do emotions manifest in our bodies and what is the resulting effect of how we choose to name them? Utilizing forced physical exertion, duration, and the specific components of transitional elements, Bartnik exposes the places we keep most private, particularly relative to the extremes of emotion that exist between women in intimate relationships: overwhelming desires, misguided expectations, sexual release and comfort, idolization, and the poetics of adoration.

KELLY BARTNIK is a NY-based choreographer, performer, director, teacher and producer. She was an original cast member of Sleep No More, originating the role of Bald Witch. She has had the pleasure of performing with Optika Moderna, The Pack Theater, Witness Relocation, Cora Dance, Melissa Briggs Dance, South Brooklyn Shakespeare, Woodshed Collective and Shelter Theatre Group. Her own work has been presented at Brooklyn Arts Exchange, BRIC Studio, Dance Theater Workshop (formerly), Dixon Place, Joyce Soho, Dogtown Dance Theater, among others. She currently teaches at NYU’s Playwright’s Horizons and holds her MFA in Choreography & Visual Arts from Wilson College.
