Tokenism in the Arts: Equity Action Committee

Join the Gibney Dance Equity Action Committee for a panel of artists, administrators, and presenters to discuss the complexity and operations of tokenism in the dance field. When, where and how does tokenism operate? What are ways we can recognize and prevent tokenism across our individual and institutional practices? This panel aims to investigate the ways in which tokenism upholds the gaps in representation and opportunities for historically marginalized communities within our field.

The Equity Action Committee (EAC) is a self-selecting group of Gibney staff members dedicated to addressing issues of equity, access, and inclusion within Gibney and the dance field at large. We envision a community of individuals and institutions actively working together toward an intersectional, anti-racist, and non-discriminatory world.
