Adrienne Swan is from Brooklyn, NY/Lenapehoking. Adrienne studied visual art at the University of Chicago and graduated with a BA in Dance from Mills College in Oakland, CA. While at Mills they had the privilege of studying Cunningham with Holley Farmer and Composition with Molisa Fenley. They served as Dance Coordinator at Alonzo King LINES Ballet Dance Center for 3 years and in arts administration for Joanna Haigood of Zaccho Dance Theater, Moving On Center, and Moving For Life, Inc.  Adrienne has been a Dance Teacher for youth since 2016, teaching with Alonzo King LINES Ballet Community Programs, Creative Arts Charter School, Young Performers Theatre, and as Co-Director of the All The Right Moves Dance Program at the Marie Whelan Branch of the Boys & Girls Club of Oakland. As a youth educator, Adrienne focuses on self-agency, social relationships, and cultural kinship through movement. They are certified as Personal Trainer through NASM and in Somatic Education through Moving On Center School for Participatory Arts & Research. Adrienne has taught adults in Modern, Contemporary, Improvisation, Somatics, and Fitness forms for group and privates since 2018. Adrienne has worked in home construction/renovation and in Theater Production at Performance Space New York. As a curator and producer, Adrienne co-founded the Tilted Floor Performance Series (Berkeley, CA 2013-2018) which provided opportunity for over 70 artists to share work-in-progress and MUCK (NYC, 2019-current) which created a safe outdoor container for artists to continue performing through the pandemic. As a dancer, Adrienne has had the honor of dancing with Sarah Michelson, Molisa Fenley, Robert Moses’ KIN, and Aisan Hoss. Adrienne has choreographed 3 full evening length works and countless pieces for live performance and video, and weaves together visual and digital arts with choreography and dance. Their work has been shown at Dance Mission Theater (SF, CA), SafeHouse Arts (SF, CA), Beauty Supply Arts (Oakland, CA), Joe Goode Theater (SF, CA) and many, many alternative spaces. Adrienne frequently collaborates as SWANLAURENT with Phillip Laurent; and with Gina Bonati.
