Born in Pretoria, South Africa, Isla immigrated to Calgary, AB, Canada at age five. Isla graduated from Alberta Ballet School in 2019 and went on to complete her professional post-secondary training with Lamondance in North Vancouver, BC. Isla then joined Lamondance Company for their 13th season where she worked closely with Artistic Director Davi Rodrigues and mentor, Racheal Prince. Throughout her time with the company she performed works by Alexis Star Fletcher, Dance//Novella and Nicolas Ventura, among many others. In 2021, Isla performed in the Vancouver International Dance Festival and worked with Idan Cohen as an understudy apprentice for Ne.Sans Opera and Dance in Vancouver Opera’s production of ‘Orfeo ed Euridice.’ She has partcipated in various intensives and workshops such as Springboard Danse Montréal, RUBBERBAND Winter Intensive, Arts Umbrella ISDI, A Taste of NDT, GagaHomeLab, Springboard X and Joffrey Ballet NYC.
