Jes Wittig is a NYC-based dancer, choreographer, writer, and healer. As a dancer, she has had the pleasure of studying with and performing the works of Lar Lubovitch, Bill Young, Adam Barruch, Robin Becker, Karla Wolfangle, Alexandra Beller, and others, at venues including the American Airlines Theater, Symphony Space, the Kraine Theatre, and at her alma mater, Hofstra University, from which she received a B.A. in Dance and Religious Studies in 2017. She is artistic directress of dance/theatre company Hexe Octopus (formerly WitWorks), and her work has been presented at venues including the Kraine Theatre, the Davenport Theatre, and ShapeShifter Lab. As a healer, Jes is a Reiki Master of the second degree and a Continuum Movement practitioner. Most recently, Jes dances for Brooklyn-based company Golden Hour Dance, volunteers at Arts On Site, and writes for Venefica Magazine. Her current project is bring baba yaga soup, an immersive dance/theatre piece inspired by the witch archetype Baba Yaga, exploring psychological Halloweenism, neo-futurism, witchcraft modalities, spoken word poetry, and the healing power of storytelling.
