Kyle Bukhari is a dance researcher, performer, and administrator with more than a decade of leadership experience in nonprofit finance, higher education, and the performing arts. Before joining Gibney Company as General Manager, he oversaw financial and administrative operations in the sciences at Columbia University, supporting strategic growth in academic and research initiatives. A former dancer with the Joffrey Ballet New York and the Zurich Ballet in Switzerland, Kyle is also a Fulbright Fellow in Dance. He is a published writer in dance history and philosophy, with work on Twyla Tharp and Yvonne Rainer appearing in the Oxford Handbook of Contemporary Ballet and the International Journal of Screendance. He has taught at Sarah Lawrence College and presented his research at academic and cultural institutions in the U.S. and abroad. During his years in Europe, he choreographed for the Saarländisches Staatstheater in Saarbrücken under Marguerite Donlon, the Augsburg Ballet, and the Zurich Opera. He has toured his choreography internationally, was awarded ‘Best German Dance Solo’ in Leipzig, and participated in and helped lead the Swiss International Coaching Project for Choreographers. In New York, Kyle has co-produced and moderated programs for the Whitney Museum, Baryshnikov Arts Center, Movement Research at Judson, New York Live Arts, El Museo del Barrio, and the Museum of the City of New York, and has collaborated with dance artists Jodi Melnick, Yanira Castro, and Abigail Levine. Most recently, he moderated the panel at the U.S. premiere of Becoming Giulia at Metrograph Theater, an award-winning Swiss dance documentary by Laura Kaehr, alongside dance critics Siobhan Burke, Nicole Duffy and Marina Harss.

Bukhari earned his B.A. in Anthropology from Columbia University (Phi Beta Kappa) and an M.A. (with distinction) in Dance Studies from Roehampton University, London. He has presented his research
internationally and was Visiting Lecturer in the MFA program in Dance at Sarah Lawrence College from
2016-2020.
