Marisa Fernandez is a senior at Florida State University, where she is studying to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and her Bachelor of Science in Marketing. She started dancing in her hometown Miami, FL, where she trained at Dance Town Miami and New World School of the Arts High School. She has attended summer courses including the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, the Gaga Intensive, Ate9, and Body Traffic; where she had the opportunity to be mentored by and work closely with Tom Weinberger, Bobbi Jene Smith, Summer Lee Rhatigan, Danielle Agami, Alex Ketley, Micaela Taylor, and Tina Finkelman Berkett. She has also performed works by Tom Weinberger, Alex Ketley, Andre Zachary, Batsheva Dance Company repertory, Ilana Goldman, and Charles Anderson. She is excited to be taking part in FSU’s Arts in NYC program, where she will spend her fall semester in New York City working as a Center Intern at Gibney, taking school courses, and learning from the prominent choreographers and educators within the dance field of New York.
