Mitsuko Clarke-Verdery (she/her) is a New York bred performance, dance, and visual artist. She received her BFA in Visual Art from Carnegie Mellon University along with a completion of the Independent Study program at the Ailey School. Mitsuko is the Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director of MICHIYAYA Dance, a femme-centric contemporary dance theater company based in New York City. She has shown her visual and performance work at the Brooklyn Museum, Andy Warhol Museum, Miller Gallery, BRIC Arts Media Gallery, among others. She is the recipient of Carnegie Mellon’s Emily Phyllis Howard and Wilfred Readio Awards. Her experience in visual art and dance has led her to work in web, design, media, and PR for companies such as A BroaderWay Foundation, Peridance Capezio Center, Sidra Bell Dance New York, Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance, and more. She is currently the Marketing Manager at Gibney, where she is dedicated to listening and sharing the many voices of the Gibney community.
