What is a non-profit renter?

We define non-profit renters as entities incorporated with 501c3 status, non-incorporated entities with fiscal sponsorship, and/or non-incorporated individual artists with neither fiscal sponsorship nor 501c3 status. Our non-profit rehearsal rates do not apply to organizations that service dancers, such as non-profit photographers and videographers.

Being a “non-profit renter” means you are eligible to receive subsidized rehearsal rates through the generous support of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the New York State Council on the Arts, and Dance/NYC.

To support the dance field’s re-entry to the studio, all non-profit rehearsal rentals will be available at half price until further notice. This subsidy is made possible by support from Gibney’s Rebuilding Blocks Initiative. Additional Gibney space subsidies will continued to be generously provided by Dance/NYC’s New York City Dance Rehearsal Space Subsidy Program, made possible by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the New York State Council on the Arts.

What are your rental rates?
How can I pay for my non-profit dance rehearsal rental?

All online NPDR rental requests will be required to pay via debit/credit card. All NPDR rentals booked in person have the opportunity to be paid for with cash (up to $40.00), check, or credit/debit card. All non-profit rehearsal bookings must be paid for at the time of booking.

All credit/debit card transactions submitted through our Non-Profit Rehearsal form are processed via Stripe. The following policies are applied:

Refund Policy: Rental refunds are processed onto the card in which the payment was originally made or via check if the rental payment was originally submitted via cash or check.

What is your cancellation policy?

All rental cancellation requests should be submitted via your Gibney Rental Account. Once you are logged in, go to ‘My Rentals,’ choose the rental you wish to cancel, and select the ‘Cancel Rental’ button at the top, right of the page.

NPDR Cancellation Policy: When cancellations for a non-profit rehearsal rental occurs less than 7 days prior to the rental date the renter will not receive a refund of their rental payment. However, if Gibney staff can rebook the space after this time, a 50% refund of the rental payment will be issued. When a non-profit rehearsal rental is canceled 7 or more days in advance a full refund of the rental payment will be issued.

If you are contracted for a non-NPDR rental, please refer to the cancellation policy detailed in your rental contract.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our cancellation policy will be flexible for cancellations due to sickness or health concerns.
