What are Quiet Hours at Gibney?

Gibney is proud to be a multi-use space, which includes three flexible performance venues (Studio H, Y, and C). To avoid disrupting performances, Gibney has instituted nightly Quiet Hours at our Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center at 280 Broadway around Gibney performances. During Quiet Hours, kindly keep in mind to lower your sound levels, avoid loud and sudden screaming/yelling, and playing live instruments in the studios being monitored near performance studios.

Most importantly, please keep studio doors closed throughout your booking. You are still more than welcome to play music and talk, but Gibney staff members reserve the right to monitor such sound levels and ask renters to lower sound if deemed too loud for performances. All renters in the studios monitored during Quiet Hours will receive a courtesy email notifying them of an upcoming performance.

In making the decision to rent space during quiet hours, renters are contractually agreeing to adhere to this policy through signing the Rehearsal Rental Agreement and Rental Guidelines. In the event of non-compliance, Gibney reserves the right to end rehearsals immediately with no refund of rental fees. For more information and clarification, feel free to email our Rentals Team at rentals@gibneydance.org.

How will I be notified of Quiet Hours?

You can find a list of dates, studios, and times to know which studios are more specifically monitored during quiet hours on our online booking platform. After you choose your studio slots on our studio calendar, you will be able to find this list on your checkout page. If you are a renter in a monitored studio, you will receive a courtesy notification email 7 days before the quiet hours date.

Can I cancel my reservation after receiving the Quiet Hours notification email?

We do not offer refunds for cancellations due to Quiet Hours. All refunds for canceled rentals follow our 7- day cancellation policy.

Can I switch my studio after receiving the Quiet Hours notification email?

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate a studio switch after receiving the Quiet Hours notification email. All renters are notified of the studios monitored during Quiet Hours on our online booking platform and are contractually aware that Quiet Hours are instated during Gibney performances at our 280 Broadway location.

Am I allowed to play music during Quiet Hours?

Yes, you are still allowed to play music and speak during Quiet Hours. We kindly ask that you keep your music volume and speaking levels low, and ensure your door is closed for the entirety of your rental. Please refrain from loud and sudden shouting, screaming, or applause.

Am I allowed to play live instruments during Quiet Hours?

Renters are allowed to play instruments in the studios that are not monitored during Quiet Hours. If you would like to play live instruments during Quiet Hours we ask that you book a space that is not close to the studio hosting the performance. You can find the performance dates and studios monitored during Quiet Hours on our online booking platform. For more information and clarification, feel free to email our Rentals Team at rentals@gibneydance.org.

Which studios are monitored during Quiet Hours?

Any studio adjacent to the studio hosting the performance will be monitored during Quiet Hours.

For a show in Studio H: G, C
For a show in Studio C: B, D, H, E
For a show in Studio Y, X, Z
