Welcome! Take these steps to get started:

  2. Visit our class schedule and click “register” on the class you would like to take and purchase either a single class or a class series

How do I use Zoom to take class?

First, you’ll need to download the Zoom app onto your device. This should automatically happen the first time you click a Zoom link. You don’t need a Zoom account to get into the class. If you need more  help or instructions on how to join a Zoom meeting, visit Zoom’s online tutorial here.

You will be placed into a waiting room and Gibney administrative staff will admit you when class begins. Make sure when you name yourself in Zoom, your name matches the name you signed up for class with. Students will not be admitted more than 10 minutes after the start of class.

If you have questions or experience technical difficulties, please reach out to us at classes@gibneydance.org.

Online Classes Guidelines

Before Class

Registration closes 20 minutes before the class time. All classes are scheduled in Eastern Standard Time.

The Zoom link will be sent 15 minutes before the class time to the email address in your MindBody account. If you do not receive a link, please check your spam folder and settings, or reach out to classes@gibneydance.org.

Upon following the Zoom link, you will be placed into a waiting room. Gibney administrative staff will admit you when class begins. Make sure when what you name yourself in Zoom matches the name you signed up for class with. Only students who have paid for class and are on the MindBody roster will be admitted into the Zoom room.

Students will not be admitted into the Zoom room more than 10 minutes after the start of class.

In Class

Space: If possible, move all objects in your space of choice to the edge of the area, or into another room. Area needs will vary from class to class, but a good rule of thumb is to find enough room for you to lie down in an ‘X’ in any direction.

Please keep yourself on mute unless the teacher instructs you to do otherwise. Video use is optional!

You can view the class in ‘Speaker View’, featuring the teacher, or ‘Gallery View’ to see all participants.

Music: Make sure your sound levels are loud enough to follow along in class. Your teacher will be controlling music and levels of volume throughout the session.

Chat: If questions arise during class, please use the chat function to communicate. Teachers will do their best to address questions throughout the class.

If you have technical issues, please contact us at classes@gibneydance.org. Students will not be re-admitted into class more than 10 minutes after class starts. If you’re not able to join within the first 10 minutes, please contact us and we will sign you out of class and return the credit to your account.

Recordings of class by participants are never permitted. Gibney may record the speaker view of the teacher; students will not be recorded.

As always, Gibney’s standard terms of service apply to our online offerings.  By joining us for online classes, users acknowledge that there is the possibility of physical injury in dance, and understand and expressly assume all risks involved in connection with dance instruction and training.

General Information

What styles of dance do you offer?

Gibney offers a diverse roster of classes with styles including Vogue, Ballet, Contemporary, Floor Barre, Gaga, Street & Club, Pilates, Simonson Technique, Somatic Practices, African and more. To get a detailed description of these classes, visit our class schedule and click on the class title and the teacher’s name.

What is your class cancelation and refund policy?

Online class registrations may be cancelled up to the class start time via Mindbody Online. Pre-registrations cannot be canceled after the class start time and you will be charged for the class.

If you cancel a pre-registration, or if Gibney cancels a class, the class credit will automatically be applied to your account. If a non-series credit was used for a canceled class and you prefer a refund, please contact classes@gibneydance.org.

Please be advised that if you pre-register online for a class with an incorrect class credit, you will be required to purchase the correct class credit prior to entering class. Partial payments will not be accepted at any time; we are happy to refund the incorrect class credit.

Gibney offers refunds for any active and completely unused credits. Once a credit expires, it is no longer active. Gibney is not able to process partial refunds, including partially used class series. Students may only receive a refund in the form of original payment. Contact us at classes@gibneydance.org to inquire about a refund.

At this time, all online class credits will expire December 31st, 2020.

Do you offer any beginner or open level classes?

Yes! We offer Beginner and Open Level classes seven days a week. Please visit our class schedule to find details on class level. Classes can be sorted by level, or you can find level information in each class description.

For additional inquiries about class level, please contact us at classes@gibneydance.org for recommendations!
