Cumbe presents Eto’o Tsana & Mabina DanSeuses: W
dance-mobile presents W, a dance piece that explores the marriage of traditional and contemporary Kongolese movement.
With a cast of only Women, Mabina Danseuses explores strength, sisterhood and sensuality within their bodies, and challenges audiences’ views on the perception of women in Afro-rooted dances.
No RSVP required. Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy live performance against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline. View map.
Cumbe: Center for African and Diaspora Dance is a home for African and Diaspora dance and music.
Through classes and cultural programs, we invite everyone to feel the joy and vitality of rhythms rooted in Africa.
Cumbe presents Eto’o Tsana and Mabina Danseuses Dance Company. Eto’o Tsana- a choreographer, dancer, singer, and dance educator-has traveled extensively collaborating, teaching, and performing professionally with renowned Kongolese artists.
Mabina Danseuses Dance Company, founded by Tsana, focuses on Cultural Performance, Humanitarianism, and Anthropology from a Kongolese perspective and aims to challenge the complexities of ‘Our Being’ as displaced children of the Motherland.
dance-mobile is an annual series of free outdoor performances & classes in parks throughout the city. By ‘making space for dance’ in outdoor public spaces, Gibney Dance Company hopes to make the power of movement accessible to all members of our community.
dance-mobile is generously supported by Con Edison.
