MADBOOTS DANCE artistic directors Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz co-teach this master class. The class will begin with a dynamic improvisational warm-up grounded in formal technique and visceral imagery that progresses into workshopping highly-physical movement from MADBOOTS current repertory. In this class dancers are encouraged to take risks, make choices, and deconstruct material.
MADBOOTS DANCE is a queer, all-male, contemporary dance company based in New York City led by Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz. Presently, the duo continues to create original works for the company, as well as, teach both emerging and professional dancers around the nation.
Led by Jonathan Campbell and Austin Diaz, the queer, all-male company is known for its fearless athleticism and unashamed intimacy. Tackling topics related to male identity, the hyper-physical, provocative company was named “25 to Watch” by Dance Magazine in 2016 and has been noted for it’s “refreshing, often thrilling, straightforwardness.” by the Boston Globe. MADBOOTS DANCE makes its Joyce debut with a program featuring the New York premiere of MASC, as well as a world premiere. Program contains full nudity.
