FRIDAY, MARCH 13, 12:00-2:00 PM
FRIDAY, MARCH 20, 12:00-2:00 PM

In this 2-hour creative process workshop dancers will gain access to the collaborative, co-generative tools used by Banning Bouldin to create her new work with Gibney Company. We will explore how imagery and thematic prompts can be used to develop and deconstruct individual and group movement languages, partnerships, and large scale group compositions. Dancers should come warm and prepared for creative process.

Register for one or both workshops.

Banning Bouldin graduated from the Juilliard School under the direction of Benjamin Harkarvy, and spent the next decade working internationally with companies and choreographers such as Aszure Barton, the Cullberg Ballet, Johan Inger, Sidi Larbi, and many others. In 2012, she returned to the US and formed New Dialect, a contemporary dance collective based in Nashville, TN. Banning acts as the organization’s artistic director and resident choreographer and has received fellowships and awards for her efforts to increase the accessibility of contemporary dance in the Southeast. She is thrilled to collaborate with Gibney Dance Company in their Spring 2020 season.
