Alexis Amundarain is a dance artist and photographer who received her BFA in Dance as an Honors Scholar at The University of the Arts under the direction of Donna Faye Burchfield in May of 2018. A native of Connecticut, she attended Greater Hartford Academy the Arts and has been further influenced by training with Gallim’s Summer Dance intensive and Making The Mystery Visible workshop with Nancy Stark Smith. Alexis was selected to travel abroad for CAMping, a two week workshop/ dance festival in Paris, two years in a row and performed pieces by Lauren Bakst and Alessandro Sciarroni in the Marathon Des Écoles in 2017 and 2018. While in school she worked with artists such as Jone St. Martin, Marcelo Evelin, Kim Bears-Bailey, Kim Stroud, and had the pleasure of performing in works by Jimena Paz, Gerard and Kelly, Jesse Zaritt, Katie Swords Thurman, and Sidra Bell. She most recently performed as a company member in Babel Movement’s showcase and is thrilled to start working at Gibney Dance as a Center Intern.
