Kellye Smith is a performer, choreographer, and teacher originally from Richmond, Virginia. She graduated cum laude from James Madison University with a BA in Dance, and received her PreK-12 dance teaching license. While there, Smith performed original works by Ruben Graciani, Tiffanie Carson, Floyd McLean Jr, Ricky Ruiz, Xiang Xu, and Monique Haley. Her choreography was chosen to perform in JMU’s Mainstage Theatre and was the recipient of the School of Theatre and Dance Outstanding Choreography Award. Smith was also the head artistic director of Mozaic Dance Team, an award winning hip hop team that hosts the largest collegiate hip hop showcase on the East Coast.
She is currently working professionally with Kyle Marshall Choreography and Jon Lehrer Dance Company as a performer and apprentice respectively. She also is a member of NYC based hip hop company, The Neighbors. She is Community Actionist for Gibney Dance in partnership with the Hands are for Holding® program.
