Manami Takashina is a dance artist and food-enthusiast, originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. In May 2017, she graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with concentrations in contemporary dance, French language, and international relations. While at Sarah Lawrence, she had the opportunity to dance under the direction of Sara Rudner, John Jasperse, Kathy Westwater, Paul Singh, Peter Kyle and more, specifically while creating her own work in Dance Making. She performed excerpts of Alvin Ailey’s “Revelations” under the direction of Sylvia Waters, in addition to many other works choreographed by graduate students in the MFA program. During her junior year abroad in Paris, she studied dance intensely at Studio Harmonic, while also focusing on personal work. If not dancing, you may find her reading and writing about food history and culture, or likely cooking. She is very excited to be part of the Gibney team and looks forward to connecting with dancers and artists.
