About the artists

Lindsay Bowman is a Canadian dance artist and writer currently living in Brooklyn, NY. Before participating in the Choreographic Process program at Gibney Dance, Lindsay completed a two-year professional training program in Calgary, Canada at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks (DJD), a jazz dance company rooted in the history of jazz dance and music. She holds a BA in English from the University of Calgary.

Henriëtte Robert received her Bachelor’s degree for Dance Education at Fontys School of Fine and Performing Arts in The Netherlands. After working as a dance educator teaching both vulnerable groups like refugees as well as recreational dancers of all ages, she started studying at Gibney in New York in 2017. She has performed on Dutch national television in honor of the King’s 50th birthday and danced for the company Dansnest, specialized in dance in public space. In New York, she collaborated with the Tunisian choreographer Syhem Belkhodja, Jessica Lewis Arts, Teresa Perez and performed in the work of Eveline Kleinjans in venues such as Symphony Space. In addition to that, she created her own work for the St. Ann and Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn. She recently released her first dance film called ‘Burning Water’ in which she addresses the growing number of millennials suffering from a burnout. Connect with her in IG: @dancejet

Alex Tomassian is an independent mover, choreographer and teacher from California, currently based in New York City. She received her BA from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she studied Dance and Studio Art. In addition to movement, she is invested in videography, sculpture, and graphic art. She is finishing her last month of the Professional Training Program in the Choreographic Process track at Gibney Dance and also participates in the Work Study Program at The Muse Brooklyn. Alex’s recent projects consider storytelling as an engine of creating empathetic understanding and community.

Meitav Vilensky was born and raised in Atlanta, GA where she began dancing at the age of 3. Meitav discovered her love of choreography when she helped found the Student Run Dance Ensemble at her high school.  She then attended Goucher College for her undergraduate degree, where she designed her own major, Mind Body Connections Through Movement, which focused in the Dance/Choreography, Psychology, and Arts Administration. While in college, she studied abroad at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance for six months. After graduating this past May, Meitav moved to NYC to pursue her dreams of becoming a choreographer. As an artist, Meitav is interested in exploring more than just the “human experience”, but rather what makes us tick. It’s the dark, sticky, taboo bits she seeks to explore through movement in collaboration with her dancers and their experiences alongside her own.
