The company brings its signature style to the Gibney stage with the world premiere of The myth of forward motion (or, The Box Dance). Physically rigorous, sometimes virtuosic, almost always slapstick, this new work walks the line between dance performance and nonlinear play.

Internationally recognized choreographer and performer Yue Yin brings two signature works to the Gibney stage. Born from a lingering sense of isolation that followed the Covid-19 lock-down, Ripple endeavors to find moments of balance and harmony amid turbulence and chaos. Through The Fracture of Light is a sleek showcase for Yue Yin’s unique movement vocabulary that fuses Chinese dance, folk and contemporary movement.

DoublePlus: Dual Rivet and Roderick George | kNoname Artist
January 11-13, 2024

In a program curated by Kyle Abraham, Dual Rivet will bring the world premiere of From The Outside, a live expansion of its short film Rabbithole and Roderick George | kNoname Artist will premiere Venom, a work inspired by the lasting impact of the HIV/AIDS Epidemic of the 1980s and beyond on the LGBTQIA + community.

Sidra Bell Dance New York and Immanuel Wilkins Quartet
May 16-18, 2024 

Gibney’s inaugural Artist-in-Residence, Sidra Bell with acclaimed saxophonist, composer and arranger Immanuel Wilkins, brings a world premiere set to an original score by Wilkins. The result is a pure dance display of the joy and ecstatic spontaneity through improvisational modalities that Wilkins’s contemplative and rich composition evokes.
