Rosemary E. Giuliano is a principal in the Connecticut law firm of Giuliano Richardson & Sfara LLC.  She has been continuously engaged in the private practice of law since 1979.  Her practice emphasis is matrimonial law. She is a graduate of Smith College and the University of Connecticut School of Law.  She has earned professional and public recognition for professional achievement and distinguished service to her community and her profession.

 Attorney Giuliano has been a leader in state, regional, and national bar associations.  She served on the ABA Board of Governors (2005 – 2008), the ABA Executive Committee in the capacity of Chair of the BOG Program, Evaluation and Planning Committee and as the Connecticut State Delegate to the ABA House of Delegates (1996-2005).    Previously, she served as President of the New England Bar Association (2003–2004), President of the Connecticut Bar Association (1994–1995) and Chair of the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Section (1984-1985).  She has been an active member of and chaired numerous committees of the American Bar Association and Connecticut Bar Association.  Attorney Giuliano has served on the Board of Directors of the Connecticut Bar Foundation and as President of the University of Connecticut Law School Foundation Board of Trustees. She is a Sustaining Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation Fellows and former Chair of the Connecticut ABF Fellows.  She is also a sustaining Life Fellow of the Connecticut Bar Foundation Fellows and former Vice-Chair.  Attorney Giuliano has been a panelist and moderator in numerous Bar Association and Bar Foundation seminars and symposia.

Attorney Giuliano’s public service includes, in part, her positions as Chair of both the State of Connecticut Ethics Commission and Judicial Selection Commission.  Among her acclamations are the Connecticut Bar Association Distinguished Professional Service Award, the University of Connecticut School of Law Distinguished Graduate Award, the Connecticut Bar Foundation Distinguished Service Award, the Waterbury, Connecticut Young Lawyer Community Service Award and the Connecticut Bar Association Young Lawyers Women in the Law Section Ladder Award.   She received a State of Connecticut General Assembly Official Citation for her professional accomplishments, community activities and her commitment to the promotion of the Italian culture and an award from the Connecticut Italian American Bar Association for outstanding litigation skills and contributions to the law.  She has been designated as a New England and Connecticut Super Lawyer from 2007 to present.  She is also included in The Best Lawyers in America and was selected as Lawyer of the Year in the New Haven area in the years 2019 and 2021 in the field of Family Law.

Attorney Giuliano has also served as a long-standing appointee of the State of Connecticut Judicial Branch as an Attorney Trial Referee and Special Master in family law matters as well as a participant in the Volunteer Attorney Program.  Her community service has included membership on the Boards of Director of Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Women’s Emergency Shelter and Planned Parenthood.
