This workshop is open to performers, movers, actors, circus artists, creators, and dramaturgs who wish to explore different aspects of dance and performance. This workshop offers participants the opportunity to dive into the choreographic world of Antonin Rioche. Led by Ève-Marie Dalcourt, the workshop explores movement material from We Are Doing Great, focusing on the physical and theatrical qualities of the choreography, with particular attention to musicality, presence, and the relationship between movement and storyline. Rather than focusing on learning choreography, the workshop invites participants to explore the intentions and qualities behind the movement and to find their own way of experiencing the piece. Having performed in several of Rioche’s works, Ève-Marie will share her experience of the material, offering participants a direct insight into the process of embodying and interpreting his choreographic language.

Antonin Rioche

Antonin Rioche is a director, choreographer, and visual artist born in Angers in 1994 and currently based in Paris. He is the founder and artistic director of Funny People, a platform for collaboration devoted to research, creation, education, and performance. He trained at Ballet Junior de Genève, where he worked with choreographers including Roy Assaf, Marina Mascarell, Alexander Ekman, Hofesh Shechter, and Barak Marshall. He continued his career as a freelance dancer, collaborating with artists and companies including Olivier Dubois, Sasha Waltz & Guests, Michael Keegan-Dolan, Theo Clinkard, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. His debut solo, Ohboy!, was created during the Eastman Summer Intensive in 2017 and went on to tour internationally, marking a significant milestone in his career. Its short film adaptation received several awards at international film, fashion, and dance festivals. From 2018 to 2024, Antonin was an artist in residence at Korzo in The Hague, where he created works including The Others, Finally a Sign of Life, Huidhonger, Glitter, Ohgirl! and We Are Doing Great. His work has toured across the Netherlands and internationally, in collaboration with institutions including Nederlands Dans Theater, Holland Dance Festival, Mart Foundation, CCN Créteil, and Orsolina28. Blending realism and surrealism, Antonin’s work creates immersive experiences that explore contemporary culture through imagination, philosophy, and personal narratives. His creations seek to connect the intimate with the universal, bringing together dance, theatre, and visual composition.
