Workshops and Intensives

Gibney offers workshops and intensives on an ongoing basis. Browse our calendar and take a look at our upcoming programs.

Independent Training Program

Designed for dancers from around the world, Gibney’s Independent Training Program offers immersive study with flexible enrollment options of 3, 6, 9, or 12 months.

The program includes options for professional or aspiring professional dancers to take risks, have fun, and grow through advanced-level training within a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Dancers select a Program Track in Contemporary Dance, Ballet Studies, Choreographic Process, or Independent Study, and curate a personalized weekly schedule based on their interests and goals.

NYC Summer and Winter Study

Summer Study and Winter Study provide dancers with immersive 2 to 3 week experiences in NYC.

These programs are designed to expose dancers to new and challenging ideas and movement styles while sharing preparatory tools for building a sustainable career in the performing arts. Participants create a personalized schedule of Gibney’s professional classes, attend performances as a group at a variety of NYC venues, and engage with working artists in the city through seminars, panels, and discussions.

Learning & Leadership

Ideal for university and high school groups, these programs help students prepare for multifaceted performing arts careers while supporting dance educators to meet student needs.

Gibney’s Learning & Leadership programs weave dance training and performance, artistry, activism, and ever-expanding definitions of leadership into educational experiences. Through these programs, Gibney welcomes student groups for experiences at our Lower Manhattan location in NYC. Program Director Amy Miller can also bring these experiences directly to your school or organization. We also develop yearlong learning collaborations with academic institutions.

All Learning & Leadership experiences are highly curated in conversation with participating groups. Experiences may include movement classes, discussion panels, workshops, leadership and/or social action training, creative process, and performance opportunities.
