Ivy Baldwin is a choreographer and founder of Ivy Baldwin Dance (est. 1999). Commissions include BAM (Next Wave Festival), Philip Johnson Glass House, The Joyce Theater (Joyce Unleashed), Abrons Arts Center, The Chocolate Factory, Dance Theater Workshop, New York Live Arts, Dixon Place, The Wooden Floor, Manitoga / Russel Wright Design Center (Garrison, NY/upcoming premiere September 2019), and Same Planet Performance Project (Chicago, IL/upcoming premiere 2020). Recently, Keen [No. 2] and artists Wade Kavanaugh and Stephen Nguyen were nominated for a 2018 Bessie for Outstanding Visual Design. Baldwin has received awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, Bogliasco Foundation, Jerome Foundation, Trust for Mutual Understanding, NYFA, and LMCC, among others; residencies at MacDowell Colony, Yaddo, Marble House Project, Mount Tremper Arts, BAX, and MASS MoCA; and been an AIR with BAM, Movement Research, ArtistNe(s)t (Romania), The Yard, Center for Performance Research, and 92nd St. Y. Baldwin’s work has been presented internationally in Germany (Tanz im August/Danceoff!) and Romania (Dans Contemporan International Dance Festival); nationally at American Dance Institute (MD), REDCAT, (CA) Irvine Barclay Theater (CA), and The Painted Bride (PA); and additionally in NYC at Symphony Space, New Museum, Lincoln Center Out of Doors (Danceoff!), Danspace Project, P.S. 122, and La MaMa. Baldwin teaches around the U.S., including Barnard College, North Carolina School of the Arts, New York University, Rutgers University, The New School, and Bard College (upcoming 2020).
