Storm Stokes

Operations Associate

Storm Stokes is a transdisciplinary choreographic and performance artist from Northwest Detroit and based in NYC. Her project based arts container STORMWRKS combines experimental contemporary movement, sculpture material, and projection media to explore black and queer liberation theologies. Her work has been presented by Andy Arts Detroit, Stephen Friedman Gallery, LEIMAY, Unbound Dance Collective, Creaturespace NYC,CoriTerry/Wellspring Theater, Sidewalk Fest Detroit, and more. Storm is a company member with Davalois Fearon Dance and Dancers Unlimited, and has performed works by Shamel Pitts, Jacob Jonas the Company, Rashaun Mitchell & Silas Riener, Kyle Marshall, Turning Tables/Camryn Stafford, Chrysanthi Baedeka, more. Storm was a winter 2026 Incubator (AiR) with LEIMAY/ The Cave and a 24-25 Editorial Intern with the Movement Research Performance Journal.


Beyond creating and performing, they are also a movement educator and arts administrator, and serve as a BE BOLD Teaching Artist with the Misty Copeland Foundation; an Operations Associate with Gina Gibney Dance; and Desk Manager at Peridance Center.


Storm received her B.A. with honors and distinction in African American Studies and Dance from Princeton University.
