Accessibility

Venue Details

Gibney is located on the Fifth Floor of 890 Broadway and is accessible via elevator from the main entrance at 890 Broadway. Upon entering the 890 Broadway building, there will be a security guard stationed at a desk. You will be asked to sign in with your mobile device or using the onsite ipad.

To proceed to Gibney on the Fifth Floor, you can access one of the two passenger elevators on either side of the security desk. The passenger elevator entrance is 36’’ wide, generally opening 30”. For wheelchair users, 180-degree turns may be difficult in the passenger elevator without assistance. For unassisted entry to the 890 Broadway building, Gibney recommends requesting access to the building’s alternative elevator on 19 East 19th Street in advance of your arrival by emailing operations@gibneydance.org. If you are unable to request access in advance, or have difficulty gaining access, reach out to Gibney 890 staff at (212) 677-8560.

The elevators and elevator doors are manually operated, you may state to the elevator operator that you are going to Gibney on the Fifth Floor. The elevators open onto the Fifth Floor, with the left-hand elevator opening to a narrow hallway near Studio 1, and the right-hand elevator opening into a narrow hallway that leads to a main hallway. The Gibney Center Office is located between the two elevator banks. All studios at 890 Broadway are fully accessible spaces. There is a Green Room with a sink, refrigerator and counter space on the Fifth Floor.

Bathrooms

890 Broadway building bathrooms are not fully ADA-compliant. A grab bar is available at our single-use, gender neutral restroom in the Green Room adjacent to Studio 3.

Signage

Braille signage is not currently posted on studios, offices, bathrooms and dressing rooms.
